COL. G. M. BATES

Funeral for retired Air Force Col. Grahame M. (Tod) Bates of San Francisco, executive director of the American Society of Internal Medicine, will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Carew and English chapel, Masonic Street at Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco.

Colonel Bates, who died Sunday at a San Francisco hospital at the age of 69, was the stepfather of Kelly Wheeler of Tiburon and Raleigh Wheeler of San Rafael.

The Texas native was a veteran of two world wars and had led a varied career as newspaperman and in public relations and promotion in Texas, San Francisco, southern California and Richmond. He was a member of two pioneer flying groups the Quiet Birdmen and the Order of Daedalions and belonged to the Presidio Golf Club and the Press and Union League Club.

Other survivors are his wife, Audrey E. Bates of San Francisco; his mother, Mrs. Daisy Bates, and a brother, Joseph Anthony Bates, both of San Diego.
