DESHA ‘MAC’ BEAMER

Desha McNeal “Mac” Kanipoaokalani Beamer of Corte Madera died Saturday, Sept. 29, 1990, in an airplane crash in Lake County. He was 47.

Mr. Beamer was born in Honolulu and reared in Hilo. His family moved back to Honolulu in his last years of high school. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts where he graduated with a degree in physics in 1965. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Golden Gate University in 1981.

He moved to Marin in 1974 and was a senior analyst with Phoenix Leasing Co. in San Rafael.

Mr. Beamer was a lieutenant in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Because of his service, he was a strong supporter of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was an airplane enthusiast who was rebuilding a World War II airplane in his spare time. He was scientifically inclined and a capable mechanic.

He was also an accomplished musician who played piano, guitar, ukulele and banjo.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Beamer of Corte Madera; three daughters, Desha, Susan and Laura, all of Corte Madera; his parents, Martha and Peter Carl Beamer Jr. of Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii; two sisters, Bonnie Beamer of Crivitz, Wisc., and Gaye Beamer of Kailua, Hawaii; and a brother, Peter Carl Beamer III of Kailua, Hawaii.

An infant daughter, Kathleen, died in 1985.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Larkspur.

The family prefers that memorial gifts be made to the Beamer children Trust, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, 830 College Ave., Kentfield, 94904.

Arrangements were handled by the Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley.
