MARY T. MACHADO

Mary “Mamie” T. Machado of Novato died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 89.

A native of New York, she lived in Sausalito for over 50 years before moving to Novato 10 years ago.

She was the wife of the late Jack Machado, who worked for the Sausalito public works department and died in 1956.

Mrs. Machado was a member of the Novato Senior Citizens, St. Isabella’s Lodge in Sausalito and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Sausalito.

She was a survivor of the 1906 earthquake which occurred when she was 14 and living in San Francisco.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Betty Machado of Novato; four sisters, Ann Hacker, Agnes Ament and Ester Conroy, all of Castro Valley, and Julie Collins of Novato; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato, burial taking place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.

The Rosary was scheduled to be recited at 8 tonight in Keaton’s Chapel of Marin.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael or the St. Vincent De Paul Dining Center in San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds information: She was the grandmother of Laura and Paul Machado and great grandmother of John Curtis Wilmott.
