Nicasians Shocked At Tragic Death of Former Resident
Residents of Nicasio and vicinity were shocked Friday last to hear of the accident at Banta, near Tracy, when Joseph C. Dias, 40, former Nicasio rancher, who recently moved to Ripon, was instantly killed when his auto was struck by a Southern Pacific train.
Others who met death in the crash were Mrs. John Souza, 35, of Ripon, a neighbor of Dias, and her son, Joe Souza.
Dias and the boy were caught in the wreckage and carried 700 feet, while Mrs. Souza was hurled into a nearby field. Dias is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Alfonso Dias.
