Suicide victim’s body found
Tracking dogs helped find the body of a San Anselmo parks employee Friday morning at Point Reyes National Seashore.
The body of Lloyd Lowell Rains, 34, was about 100 yards from Limantour Road, just west of Bear Valley Road, according to San Ansemo police. The apparent cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Rains had been reported missing for two days. He was a parks foreman in San Anselmo.
At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a ranger at the national seashore found Rains’ car on Limantour Road. A task force of officers from the San Anselmo Police Department, National Park Police, Marin County Sheriff’s Office and Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office searched the area on foot and by helicopter. Also assisting was a canine unit supplied by the Marin Sheriff’s Office.
The search, called off because of nightfall, resumed Friday morning. San Anselmo police said one of the dogs found Rains’ body at 10:20 a.m. uphill from the roadway.
