Philip A. Wooster of Belvedere, a retired paper company owner, died yesterday at his home in Belvedere after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Wooster was born and reared in San Francisco. He graduated from Lowell High School and attended the University of California, Berkeley.
He first managed his mother's business in San Francisco, the Office Towel Supply Co. and then was owner of Acorn Paper Co. in Emeryville for 35 years, retiring about 14 years ago. The firm manufactured paper products.
Wooster was a member of the San Francisco Yacht Club and also was a longtime member of the Olympic Club. He belonged to a number of Masonic organizations, including Occidental California Lodge No. 1 Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar.
He is survived by his wife, Elivira A. Wooster and his daughter, Sally Anne Wooster, both of Belvidere, his son, Richard Wooster of San Rafael, and four grandchildren.
Private services were held today.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
