BEALES, John T. -- Age 95, died peacefully on December 1. Born in San Anselmo on March 15, 1906, he is survived by his sons Tom and Alan Beales; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister Eleanor Beales. He was married to the late Ruth Burckhalter Beales for 59 years. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, Mr. Beales worked as an engineer for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph. While in high school, he operated his own business building and installing radios. His keen interest in telecommunications never wavered; at the age of 95, he used the Internet to correspond with his grandchildren and pursue his hobby of historical research. A life-long gardener, fisherman, and woodworker, he was gentle, resilient, and clear-minded to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend memorial services on Friday, December 7, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Clement's Church located at 2837 Claremont Blvd., Berkeley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
