George Washington Gamon, 58, a former ferry boat cook of 569 Bridgeway, Sausalito, was found dead at the home of a friend, Herbert Capley, at 525 Easterby Street, Saturday night.
Coroner Frank J. Keaton said Gamon died of cirrhosis of the liver and aspiration. He had been dead about 14 hours when Capley found him lying in bed fully clothed.
Gamon had been a cook for a Northwestern Pacific Railroad ferry boat and in recent years had been employed at odd jobs in Sausalito including janitorial work.
A native of Tennessee, he had lived in Sausalito for 35 years and in California for 37 years. He was a bachelor and leaves no known survivors.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Frank J. Keaton Mortuary in Sausalito.
