Former Marin resident George Raymond Krough, 48, died Monday in a Memphis, Tenn., hospital after a long illness.
Krough moved to Memphis five years ago after living in Terra Linda and Lucas Valley.
He was a former Army captain and served as an aide to Lt. Gen. James Gavin when Gavin commanded the 82nd Airborne Division in the late 1940s.
He also served with the Second Infantry Division in Korea.
He resigned his commission in 1956 to work for the Defense Department. In Tennessee he was a labor relations and employment specialist at Memphis Naval Air Station at Millington. Ill health forced him to stop work two years ago.
He was a member of the Church of Good Shepherd in Memphis.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Cox Krough of Memphis; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Krough of Greenbrae, and a sister, Mrs. Jean Augsburger of San Francisco.
