DEAN DE LA MONTANYA
Funeral for Dean De La Montanya, third generation member of a pioneer Marin family, will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial will be private.
De La Montanya, who was 60, was found dead yesterday.
A native of San Rafael, he was a son of Herbert De La Montanya, who served as justice of the peace from 1922 until his death in 1944.
De La Montanya was an auto salesman in Marin for many years, and t hen worked on a ranch in Ignacio until he retired. He lived in San Geronimo with his son, Dean De La Montanya Jr., until the son was killed in an auto accident March 12. He had resided in San Rafael since then.
De La Montanya’s grandfather, Hudson De La Montanya, came to San Francisco in Gold Rush days and set up a prospering hardware business, later moving to Marin.
De La Montanya is survived by four brothers, Nick of San Francisco; Lloyd of Fort Jones, Siskiyou County; James of San Geronimo and Herbert of Sebastopol, and by four grandchildren.
A Death Notice in the same paper: he was the son of Herbert and Catherine, and grandfather of Denny, Steve, Eddie and Denise De La Montanya.
