Word of the death of Jasper De Dobbeleer of Glasgow, Mont., father of Jasper C. De Dobbeleer of San Anselmo, reached here today.
The senior De Dobbeleer, who was 80, died Dec. 18 in a Glasgow hospital where he had been a patient about six months. Funeral was held in Glasgow Dec. 23.
He was born in Belgium, July 18, 1883. The family moved to t he United States in 1892. He lived in Iowa and Illinois before moving to Valley County, Mont., in 1917. He was a state representative from that county in 1937-39, and was vice president of the Montana Farmers Union from 1934 through 1940 and a board member in 1947 and 1948. He helped organize the Valley Rural Electrification Administration and the Farmers Union Grain and Feed C o. in Glasgow.
He farmed until 1942 on land which was then purchased by the federal government for an air base.
He leaves two sons, Roy of Glasgow and Jasper C. of San Anselmo; a sister, Mrs. LeRoy Heryford of Peoria Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
