DORST, Michael F. -- Passed away on Sept. 28, 2001. Mr. Dorst was a fourth generation San Franciscan, and a lifetime member of the Society of California Pioneers. He was a three-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving one year in Korea, during the Korean War. Mr. Dorst graduated from the Thacher School in Ojai, Calif., and attended Princeton University. After military service, he worked for the family company, W.P. Fuller & Co., for a while, before leaving to become a private investor. Mr. Dorst was a long-time supporter of his schools, the Society of Pioneers, and many other charitable causes, including all of the fine arts museums of San Francisco, Guide Dogs For The Blind, the Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Town in Nebraska, and others. His many friends will always remember him as kind and generous. Mr. Dorst leaves a younger brother, Thomas W. Dorst, of Greenbrae, Marin County; two nieces, and one nephew. Private services were held on Oct. 2nd, and a memorial celebration of Mr. Dorst's life will be held at the New Pisa Restaurant, 550 Green St., North Beach, San Francisco, Friday, October 19 at 11:30 A.M.
