A private service has been held for Lillian Fruitman, a longtime resident of Marin.

She lived in Fresno before moving to Marin. Mrs. Fruitman lived 12 years in San Rafael and moved to The Redwoods in Mill Valley a year and a half ago.
She worked 30 years in administration for Bank of America.
As a Marin resident, Mrs. Fruitman was an active volunteer. She served as a driver, helping elderly people run errands and get to medical appointments. She also assisted the Marin Civic Light Opera as an office volunteer.
Mrs. Fruitman received the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year in 1982 from the county Board of Supervisors for her volunteer work. She also was a member of the San Rafael Goldenaires.
Her husband, Harold Fruitman, died in 1956.
She is survived by a son, David Mendelsohn of Oakland; a sister, Esther Field of San Francisco; a brother, Arnold Zimmerman of San Carlos; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Entombment was in Hills of Eternity Cemetery in Colma.
The family prefers that contributions go to the Northern California chapter of the Arthritis Foundation or Home for Jewish Parents in Oakland.
