John Grady Is Taken By Death
Prominent merchant succumbs to illness at Cottage Hospital
John J. Grady, for many years one of San Rafael’s leading coal and feed merchants, passed away at 2 o’clock this morning at the Cottage Hospital.
Death followed an illness which had necessitated Mr. Grady’s retirement from business. A few days ago a consultation was held by physicians to determine the advisability of operating upon the deceased. His condition was found to be so critical that it was believed an operation would be futile, and only hasten the end.
Deceased is survived by four sons, James, Jr., George, Walter and Clarence. He leaves a widow. He is brother of Frank P. Grady of this city.
The funeral will take place Saturday morning at 9:30, with services at the home on B street and a mass at St. Raphael’s Church. The burial will be under the direction of Stephen Eden.
