Joseph R. Fredette
Joseph R. Fredette, a retired Petaluma carpenter, died Sunday at a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
He was born and reared in Worcester, Mass. He moved to Montana in 1924 and came to California in 1938, first settling in the Redding area where he worked on the Shasta Dam.
In 1942 Fredette moved to Richmond to work in the shipyards. He had also lived and worked in San Rafael for several years before moving to Petaluma in 1965.
Fredette retired in 1969. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Petaluma and the Carpenter’s Union.
He is survived byhis wife, Doris Fredette of Petaluma; two daughters, Nanette Hromalik and Therese Behrens of Petaluma; a son, Don J. Fredette of Auburn; a sister, Catherine LaRocque of Worcester, Mass.; and 12 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, Petaluma. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parent Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
