VAN ALLEN TREAT
Service was Friday for Van Allen Treat, 73, a native of Sausalito and former member of the Tamalpais High School District board.
Treat died Thursday in a local hospital after a long illness.
He and his wife, Virginia D. Treat, made their home at 35 Harrison Avenue in Sausalito and he had lived in that city for all but one year of his life, spent in San Francisco.
Treat attended South and Central schools in Sausalito and went to Tamalpais High School. He was an engineering graduate of Stanford University in the 1920s.
He served on the high school board of trustees from 1940 to 1949.
A retired electrical engineer, he had worked at Pacific Electric Manufacturing Co. in San Francisco.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, a sister, Laura Treat of Greenbrae, and two stepsons, Robert Emmet Allen Jr. of Berkeley and Dwight Serny Allen of Santa Rosa.
