Dr. William H. Pemberton
Of Mill Valley, died peacefully in his sleep at the family home early Wednesday morning June 5th, 2002 as a result of heart failure. Dr. Pemberton and his wife Oma have been residents and active members of the Mill Valley community for over fifty years. Dr. Pemberton graduated from The University of Washington in 1932 and also held a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. Until recently he maintained a private practice in behavioral counseling in Mill Valley and had been very active internationally as a consultant to private organizations and governments in the area of conflict resolution. He was an active member of the Mill Valley Rotary Club, Toastmasters, Marin Philosophical Society, S.I.R.S. and the Yerba Buena Chapter of E. Clampus Vitis for over forty years. In addition he sang as a member of Bread & Roses in Marin County. Dr. Pemberton had just celebrated his 90th birthday last December with his entire family and a large group of friends at a ceremony at the Washington State Capital Building in Olympia. Dr. Pemberton is survived by his wife, Oma, with whom he had been married for 61 years. He is also survived by daughters: Susan Webber of Leesburg, Virginia; Laurie Maricle of Olympia, Washington; Heather Pemberton of Ashville, North Carolina; Amparo Huici of Madrid, Spain. Dr. and Mrs. Pemberton have five grandchildren, David and Kate Webber, Eric and Amy Reel, and Chelsea Maricle. A Memorial Service will take place in the gardens of the Unitarian Universalist Church, 240 Channing Way, San Rafael at 7 PM on Thursday, June 13. Please note parking at the facility is limited, carpools recommended. Memorial donations may be made to Bread & Roses or Marin General Hospital-Cardiology.
