Christian E. Schey
Christian E. Schey, pioneer Johovah’s Witness minister in Marin County, died Sunday in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 81.
Schey was born in Germany and came to this country as a young man. In 1935 he was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness and served many years as a full-time minister.
In the early 1940s he was assigned to Marin County, when there were only seven members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the county. Later he was instrumental in the building of the Kingdom Hall in Mill Valley, where he served as presiding minister.
In recent years, he lived in Fairfax and was a member of the congregation there.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanore of the family home, and one sister in Germany.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at the Kingdom Hall in Fairfax at a time to be announced later.
The California Death Index adds information: Christian Emanuel Schey was born March 19, 1898; his mother’s maiden name was Mallach.
