Theresa Bottini, a Marin County resident for 81 years, died Friday, June 10, 1988, at the Fifth Avenue Convalescent Home in San Rafael where she had lived for the last seven years. She was 101.
A native of Lonte Pozzolo, Near Milan, Italy, she came to Marin in 1907 to marry John Bottini, who was from the same village. He had come here seven years earlier, and sent her passage money so she could come to this country to be his bride. They were married for 57 years. John Bottini died in 1964.
Mrs. Bottini lived with her family in San Rafael for 50 years and in Fairfax for 30 years.
She was a homemaker all her life and took care of her husband John who was blind.
Mrs. Bottini enjoyed gardening. In the late 1950s, she and her husband cultivated an extensive vegetable garden. Knitting was another favorite pastime. She was very friendly and loved people, especially children, said her daughter, Mary Testa of Fairfax.
She also is survived by a son, Robert Bottini of San Rafael; a sister, Annette Tacchi of Stockton; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight at Chapel of the Hills mortuary, 330 Red Hill Ave. in San Anselmo. Friends may call at the mortuary after 5:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Rita's Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery in Terra Linda.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Guide Dogs for the blind, 350 Los Ranchitos Road, San Rafael.
