DONOGHUE, Augustine 'Gus' P., Ph.D. -- Stanford, a former Director of Admissions, popular history Professor, and renowned soccer coach at USF, died peacefully Sept. 7, 2001 at Inverness at the age of 90. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Gus came to San Francisco in 1925. A modest man, Dr. Donoghue's academic and athletic achievements were numerous including: Phi Beta Kappa, Student Body President, Soccer All-American, Olympian, and National Soccer Hall of Fame. Retired as Commander U.S. Navy Resrv., Gus was a loving and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He had a positive influence on many lives and will be greatly missed. Donations to Hospice of Marin, or the USF Soccer program.
