Melvin Russon Dransfield
Passed away at Marin General Hospital Saturday, February 9, 2002 after a lengthy illness. He was 82 years of age. Beloved husband for 50 years of Alice Dransfield. Loving father of Douglas Dransfield (Fabienne) of Roseville, CA, Ann Louis (Arthur) of Novato, CA, and Richard Dransfield (Laura) of San Anselmo, CA. Adored grandfather of Christine, Emily, David, Steven and Michael Dransfield and Katherine and Elizabeth Louis. Dear brother of Ron Dransfield (Norma) of Ogden, UT, Howard Dransfield (Joy Ann) of St. George, UT and the late Melba Stettler and Ken Dransfield.
Mr. Dransfield was born in Ogden, Utah April 27, 1919. He was a graduate of Ogden High School and Brigham Young University. While attending BYU he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. Mr. Dransfield served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the occupational forces in Japan following World War II. He retired as an executive for Sentry Insurance in San Francisco. Mr. Dransfield was a longtime Tiburon resident and a Petaluma resident for the last six years. His hobbies and interests included golf, gardening, horseback riding, soccer and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He was a Little League baseball coach and manager in Tiburon for over ten years. Mr. Dransfield was a devoted husband and father; his family was his primary love in life. Mr. Dransfield was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 11 AM at the ADOBE CREEK FUNERAL HOME, 331 Lakeville Street, Petaluma, CA. Private Interment, Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael, CA. The family prefers memorial contributions in his memory be made to Sunny Hills Children's Garden, Family and Children Services 300 Sunny Hills Drive, San Anselmo, CA 94960.
