Mrs. Aird, who was 78, died at her home Sunday, July 24, 1988, after a lengthy struggle with cancer.

The couple moved to Mill Valley in 1944.

Mrs. Aird traveled widely with her husband to medical meetings, lecture tours and vacations. She also supported his work by entertaining many neurologists visiting from the East Coast, Europe and Asia.

She also participated in activities in the Mill Valley Community Church, Redwoods retirement residence, a French language group and the Doctors’ Wives of the University of California.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Aird is survived by two daughters, Katharine Aird of Petersburg, Ill., and Polly Aird of Bellevue, Wash.; two sons, John Aird of Soquel, Santa Cruz county, and Bruce Aird of Ridgewood, N.J.; two sisters, Katharine Collins Hayes of Kentfield and Margaret Collins of Bryn Mawr; and six grandchildren.
