LOIS KATHLEEN SAWYER
Mill Valley native
Services were held in Sierra City for former Marin resident Lois Kathleen Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer died Oct. 31 in Citrus Heights. She was 89.
Mrs. Sawyer was born to Daniel and Henrietta Ward Fenton in Mill Valley in 1905. As a young woman she worked in San Francisco, where she commuted by ferry. Later she lived in San Rafael and was a member of the San Rafael Improvement Club.
For most of her life she lived in Sierra City with her husband, Earl “Sam” Sawyer. The couple operated the Sierra Country Store and Sierra Trailer Park in Sierra City.
Mrs. Sawyer was a member of the Sierra City Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Francis “Sonny” Sawyer of Redding; a daughter, Patricia Sullivan of Citrus Heights; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1973.
Mrs. Sawyer was buried in Sierra City Cemetery.
