A Long Memory
On Tuesday Stephen Eden of San Rafael read a notice displayed at the county court house, and calling for information concerning one James Trout, whose whereabouts were unknown to Detective Morse of San Francisco, author of the notice. Mr. Eden remembered a certain burial some years ago and close examination of Undertaker Edenís books revealed the fact that the man advertised for now occupies a pauperís grave. The deceased died in San Rafael in 1881, and, having no known relatives or friends to pay his funeral expenses, Trout was interred at the public expense. Now a snug fortune awaits him in Nevada, all of which will, of course, pass into other hands, James Trout having joined the great majority.
