PHYLLIS E. RIEGER
Memorial service was held Saturday at Fort Mason Post chapel, San Francisco, for Phyllis E. Rieger who died Wednesday at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco. She was 57.
A former airline stewardess, she was the wife of Gordon J. Rieger, a retired Army colonel, and had lived in Novato for four years, making her home at 2024 Laguna Vista.
She was a native of Portland, Oregon, and a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She joined American Airlines as a stewardess shortly after World War II.
She spent most of her adult life traveling all over the world and lived in San Francisco before moving to Novato.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gordon Rieger, of Richmond, Virginia and Lt. Lawrence Rieger of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; three daughters, Lynn, Lisa and Kristen Rieger, all of Novato; a sister, Janice Aabling, of Sausalito; and her grandmother, Astrid Aabling of Santa Barbara.
She was a member of the Pathfinders branch of the Marin Art and Garden Center and the Retired Officers’ Wives Clubs of Marin.
Inurnment was at the National Cemetery, Presidio of San Francisco. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society are preferred by the family.
