HAROLD L. POPE
The funeral service for Harold L. Pope, 62, of Santa Rosa, a former resident of Marin, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Eggan & Lance Mortuary, Santa Rosa.
Pope, a retired machinist for the American Can Co. in San Francisco, died Sunday at a Santa Rosa hospital after an illness.
Pope, a square dance caller, was a member of the Northern California Square Dancers and a former member of the Good Sams, a recreational vehicle club. He was a caller for the Western Twirlers in Colma and Squaws and Paws in Novato.
He served in the Army during World War II. Pope was a native of Arkansas who had been a 10-year resident of Novato before moving to Santa Rosa in 1975.
Surviving are his wife, Odette Pope of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Odette Diane Orsi of Martinez; a son, Mac R. Mecham of San Rafael; a brother, Cleo Pope of Arkansas; four daughters, Edith LaGrande of Nice, Lake County, Ruby Blankenship of Missouri, Lucille McDaniels of Texas and Lillian Fostine of Oakland; and two grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Marin Chapter, American Heart Association.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the father-in-law of Fred T. Orsi and Lise Mecham, and grandfather of Cindy Orsi and Sean Mecham.
