Carlton Gearhart, 61, of Inverness, operator of an electronics shop in Point Reyes Station, died Friday night at a local hospital after an unexpected illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.

CARLTON ‘BUD’ GEARHART
No funeral is planned for Carlton “Bud” Gearhart, long-time Inverness resident who died unexpectedly Friday. He was 61.
Gearhart was born in Kansas and reared in San Jose. He came to Inverness in 1953. He worked for 27 years as a radio technician for American Telephone & Telegraph Co. in Inverness and also operated a television service on the side.
He was an avid ham radio operator and also liked to write poetry.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the family home; his daughter, Joan Sheldrick of El Cerrito; his son, Carlton B. Gearhart Jr. of San Francisco; one brother,, James Gearhart, and one sister, Rosemary Gilliland, both of San Jose.
Arrangements were handled by the Neptune Society of San Francisco, and Gearhart’s ashes will be scattered on the shore.
