John J. Scobey
A funeral for John J. Scobey of Petaluma, a former Larkspur restaurant owner, was held today in Petaluma.
Scobey died Thursday at a local hospital after a sudden illness. He was 72.
A native of Oakland, he was reared in San Francisco. After serving 19 years in the Merchant Marines, Scobey owned and operated restaurants in both Larkspur and Cloverdale for more than 30 years. He retired 20 years ago.
Scobey was a member of the United Methodist Church of Petaluma.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Scobey of Petaluma; a stepson, Louis Avedano of San Rafael; and a grandchild.
Private burial was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. The family prefers that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 255 Hugo St., San Francisco, 94122; the Heart Association of the Redwood Empire, P. O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402; or to the United Methodist Church memorial fund, Fifth and D streets, Petaluma, 94952.
