James A. Story of Ignacio, a Marin resident for more than 60 years, and former operator of the Ignacio Grocery store, died Monday at a local convalescent hospital after a long illness. He was 99.

Story was born in Calaveras County and moved to Sonoma with his family as a child. He lived in Sonoma until about 1918 when he moved to Ignacio.

He operated the Ignacio Grocery store which also housed the post office. He began operating the store about 1920 and retired about 30 years ago.

He was a member of Lafayette Lodge No. 126 of the Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Hibbs of Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles County.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Keatonís Mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.

The family prefers memorial donations to a favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the husband of the late Mary L. Story, and uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
