GLORIA JEANNE KIBBEE
A memorial service will be held in San Anselmo on April 13 at 4 p.m. for the Rev. Gloria Jeanne Kibbee, former assistant professor at the San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo.
The service will be in Stewart Chapel on the seminary campus,
Ms. Kibbee, 57, was found dead last Thursday in her apartment in Honolulu where she was pastor of a church. She apparently died of a heart attack.
Ms. Kibbee, a native of Los Angeles, lived in Marin many years before moving to Hawaii.
She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark College and received her master’s degree at the seminary in San Anselmo in 1962.
At one time she was director of Christian education for Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Corte Madera and later was consultant in Christian education to St. Stephen’s Parish in Belvedere.
She was a member of the San Francisco Theological Seminary faculty from 1965 until she was called to the pastorate of the Church of the Crossroads in Honolulu in 1977.
She was ordained a minister in the United Church of Christ in 1976.
In addition to her duties as a professor at the seminary, she also served on the staff of the Lewis Marshall Lloyd Counseling Center there.
She was a licensed marriage and family counselor and a certified family therapist.
Ms. Kibbee is survived by her mother, Charlotte Leach of Portland, Ore., and seven daughtes by a former marriage to Dr. Donovan Cooke – Virginia, Victoria, Johanna, Heidi, Mercedes? (damaged paper), Beatrice and Gretchen.
Ms. Kibbee also was married to William Perdue at one time.
