Jefferson Thompson, member of a pioneer Marin County family, was accorded final rites Saturday in Petaluma following his death last Thursday evening at his Hicks Valley ranch home.
Thompson, who was 71 years old, was the founder of the Marin French Cheese Company. It was not through these channels alone that he became well known and liked throughout Marin, as he was a member of the Masonic Order and active in the affairs of the Marin Historical Society.
Ill for only a few days prior to his death, Thompson was widely mourned. He is survived by his brother, Supr. R. A. Thompspn; a sister, Miss Martha Thompson; and a son, J. Pierce Thompson of Petaluma.
