Sailor Drowns, Woman Saves Second Man
Mrs. Catherine Heinsheimer, San Francisco society woman, plunged into the bay at Sausalito last Saturday afternoon in an effort to save three men whose boat had capsized as they were returning from shore to D on Lee’s palatial yacht anchored near the entrance to Hurricane Gulch.
Grasping one of the men, all sailors from the yacht, by the collar, she …..(illegible line).. the man’s life. Karl Hansen, another of the sailors, was rescued by a fishing crew. H. Steen, the third man, was drowned.
Mrs. Heinsheimer, wife of a Utah Hotel owner, and who recently purchased the General Dixon home in Sausalito, caustically criticized the men who stood on the shore and refused to go to the aid of the struggling sailors. She declared that had any of the men spectators followed her into the water, Steen could have been saved.
