Pioneer Dairyman Dies
Manuel Borges, for over a third of a century, a prominent dairyman on the Reed ranch and a very highly respected citizen, passed away at his home near Hilarita station, a short distance from Tiburon on Sunday. The funeral was held on Wednesday from his late home and was very large considering the storm weather. A requiem high mass was said in Mt. Carmel church, Mill Valley, for the repose of his soul. The remains were laid away in Fernwood cemetery.
The deceased was native of the Azores Islands and leaves a widow, Rita Borges, and Manuel F. Borges, also a prominent dairyman of Southern Marin, Joseph W., John M. and Frank M. Borges and Mary B. de Souza to mourn his death.
He was a member of the I.D.E.S. of Mill Valley and of the I.D.E.S.S.T. (Holy Ghost Society) of Sausalito. He stood high in the community among all classes of men and in the commercial world.
