Mrs. Susan Sayers, Aged Pioneer Passes
Death Thursday claimed another of the county’s beloved old matrons who knew Marin county “when,” in the person of Mrs. Susan Sayers, 76-year-old resident of the seaside town of Bolinas where she was born and had spent her entire life.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church in Bolinas, and were conducted by the Reverend Ernest Bradley.
Mrs. Sayers’ death in a local hospital ended an illness of two months and a long and colorful life. Widow of the late Wallace Sayers, who with his brother, Albert Sayers, conducted a four-horse stage coach carrying passengers and mail from San Rafael to Bolinas, the late matron had been proprietress of the Bolinas Beach Tavern for many years.
Surviving are two sons, L. Canepa and Ed Canepa and two daughters, Mrs. Nell Robson and Mrs. Jack Lyons.
