G. Kirkham Smith Dies
Private funeral for G. Kirkham Smith, long time resident of San Rafael and a former city councilman, has been held and private burial will be in Portland, Ore.
Smith, 88, died Sunday in a local rest home.
A native of Concord, Mass., Smith lived in San Rafael from 1920 until he retired in 1950. Prior to his retirement, he served as secretary of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association and the Board of Marine Underwriters of San Francisco.
He was a member of the San Rafael City Council from 1937 to 1939 after he was appointed to fill the unexpired term of F. M. Borges.
Before entering the local rest home, Smith had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Nan Smith Johns, Portland, Ore. He is also survived by another daughter, Mrs. Kenneth E. Livinston of Toronto, Canada; a son, Alan Kirkham Smith of San Marino, Los Angeles County, and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
