Death of Walter Borella
Another of the Borella family has been laid to rest. This time the unfortunate one was Walter Borella, 9 years old. He attempted to board the Broad Gauge train while it was passing through Alameda and slipped and fell between the cars.
His toes were so severely injured that the physicians amputated them. Blood poisoning set in and the foot was taken off in the hopes of checking it but to no avail, the leg was then amputated at the thigh but the three operations proved too severe, and the boy died last Friday. His father died in our city two years ago.
Mesdames J. B. and Ernest Lovell of this place attended the funeral which took place in San Francisco.
