Joseph Henry Plotnick, 57, died yesterday after collapsing in his apartment at 175 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael.
Plotnick complained of chest pains after a family dinner then collapsed. Resuscitation attempts by members of both the Terra Linda and San Rafael Fire Department failed and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Marin General Hospital, hospital authorities said.
Plotnick apparently died of a heart attack, according to the county coronerís office.
A native of Poland, Plotnick had lived in California for 24 years, the last four in Marin County. Before his retirement, he owned an Oakland hotel.
The body was taken to Keatonís Mortuary, San Rafael. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Sinai Memorial Chapel, San Francisco.
A death notice appeared in the April 3rd paper. It adds that he was the husband of Kitty Plotnick, father of Mrs. William Fisher and Mrs. Maurice Weinger, and grandfather of Bradley and Alison Fisher and of Deborah and Stephen Weinger; he was the brother of Bertha Kay of New York, Selma Triger and the late Abraham Plotnick. He was a member of San Francisco Lodge No. 21, Bínai Bírith.
