Attack Fatal To John Barr Of San Rafael
Funeral services for John Barr, a native of San Rafael and retired Wells Fargo Bank executive, were held today at Harry M. Williams Mortuary in San Rafael with entombment in Mt. Tamalpais Mausoleum.
Barr suffered a fatal coronary thrombosis attack Saturday while deer hunting at the Silveria Gun Club, west of Highway 101 and St. Vincent’s School. Fellow huntsmen found Barr slumped over his rifle at the deer “stand” shortly after noon when they missed Barr.
Barr, who was born in San Rafael 67 years ago, was descended from a family that had been prominent in Marin for more than a half century.
His father, William, served as a supervisor from 1910 until 1930 when his brother, William Jr. took over the post and held it for 20 years.
Barr was associated with Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco where he served in the trust department. He was a member of San Rafael Elks Lodge 1108.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel of 115 I street, San Rafael, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Wallach Jr. of Hillsborough, and three grandchildren, Barrie, Kimberly and Harry Wallach.
A death notice in the same paper adds that he was the son of the late William and Amelia Jane Barr, brother of Robert Barr and the late Agnes Dollar, Alice Ferguson, Dr. T. I. C. Barr, William Barr Jr. and Dr. Arthur Barr and Mrs. Jane Wallach.
