Richard Hardin Sr.
San Rafael resident
Richard Hardin Sr. of San Rafael died at his residence Sept. 14. He was 78.
Mr. Hardin was born in Humboldt County. He was a resident of Marin for 60 years.
He served in the Navy as a chief petty officer during World War II and was stationed in Maine and the Aleutian Islands.
He was an owner of the North American Van Lines agency in San Rafael for 22 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, United Anglers Association and the California Waterfowl Association.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira Hardin of San Rafael; three sons, Earl Farnsworth of San Rafael, Richard D. Hardin Jr. of Chico and Jan L. Farnsworth of San Rafael; his mother, Aline Hawkins of San Francisco; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael.
