Friends Mourn Rideout
Scores of Sausalito friends were this week mourning the death of Henry Milner Riedout, world travelor and author, who for many years made Sausalito his home.
Mr. Rideout died suddenly aboard the Canadian steamship, Montnairn as it was entering the Scheldt at Antwerp, Belgium. He was on a tour of Europe in company with his wife, the former Miss Frances C. Reed of Sausalito, and three children. He had been ill for several days, according to press dispatches, and this was followed by a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Rideout was born at Calais, Me., and graduated from Harvard in 1899. He was married in 1909. From 1899 to 1904 he was instructor in English in Harvard University. He was the author of many short stories and books and wrote extensively for the Saturday Evening Post.
