Miss Rosalind Chambers, Former Nurse Succumbs to an Overdose of Veronal
Without having regained consciousness, Miss Rosalind Chambers, 28, who was taken to Ross General Hospital on Thursday evening from t he Schnell Hotel in Sausalito, died this morning at 6:30.
Miss Chambers had been a nurse at the Mills Memorial Hospital and resided at 27 San Mateo drive, San Mateo, before taking the room at the Schnell Hotel on Wednesday morning. Two empty bottles which had contained 100 grains of veronal were found outside the hotel window.
The body was taken in charge by Coroner J. Ray Keaton, and an inquest will be held, the date of which has not yet been set.
According to Deputy Sheriff Leslie Tracy, who investigated the case, an empty bottle and also a full bottle of the drug were found in the room occupied by the woman. Investigation by Tracy and the Sausalito police leads to the belief that Miss Chambers took the poison with suicidal intent.
