Herman G Kleikamp of Mill Valley, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army, died yesterday at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Kleikamp, 69, was a native of Germany. After coming to this country, he graduated from Fordham University Law School in New York in 1941 and shortly thereafter entered the Army. He served in military intelligence during World War II in Germany. After the war, he became a member of the Judge Advocate Corps.
He had lived in California since 1954 and in Mill Valley since 1958 and resided at 75 Elm Avenue here.
He retired from the Army at Fort Baker in 1963. He was a member of Guiding Star Lodge No. 565 of t he Free and Accepted Masons in Bronx, N.Y., the Federal Bar Association, Mill Valley Post No. 284 of the American Legion and the Reserve Officers Association of the United States.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Mill Valley, and one brother and four sisters, all of Germany.
Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Russell and Gooch Mortuary in Mill Valley under the auspices of Mill Valley Lodge No. 356 of the Free and Accepted Masons. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. Visitation will be held at the funeral home tomorrow after 10:30 a.m.
