Henry L. Gordon Dies In Hospital
Henry L. Gordon, 87, a retired vocational instructor in the federal prison on Alcatraz Island, died at a local hospital yesterday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted by Fairfax Lodge 556, F&AM at 2:30 p.m. at the Harry M. Williams Mortuary in San Rafael.
Born in Gloucester, Mass., Gordon came to California 38 years ago. He lived in Marin County for the past 34 years and made his home at 502 Oakdale Avenue, Corte Madera, with his wife Mrs. Olive M. Gordon.
He served at Alcatraz for 30 years.
Gordon was a member of Fairfax Lodge 556, F&AM.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Wilk of San Francisco, and a grandchild.
[A death notice in the same paper adds that he was the grandfather of Gordon Wilk and the uncle of Gordon Poole, Barbara Prince and Jack Oldfin.]
