LOSES WIFE AND DAUGHTER
Death visited the family of O. F. Meldon, former town attorney of Sausalito and now practicing in Sacramento, twice this week. On Monday his wife, Margaret, died in Sacramento after a long illness and within twenty-four hours after the burial of his wife, his eldest daughter Madeline, wife of Elwyn Rayburn, died in Sausalito from scarletina on Thursday. It was a hard blow and the Meldons and Rayburns were very affectionate families.
Mrs. Meldon was a native of Illinois, aged 47 years, and was the mother of Florence, Mildred, Ruth and the late Madeline Rayburn. During her residence in Sausalito Mrs. Meldon made many warm friends.
Her family greatly appreciate the beautiful flora piece sent by Muir Lodge of Knights of Pythias.
Thirteen days after giving birth to a son, Madeline, wife of Elwyn Rayburn and daughter of O. F. Meldon, passed away in her home in Sausalito from scarletina Thursday afternoon. Childbirth left her in a weakened condition and the loss of her mother was a very severe shock to her.
The funeral services will be held in Oakland this afternoon and the remains will be cremated.
Mrs. Rayburn was a native of California, aged 24 years. She leaves a husband, Elwyn Rayburn; four children, Margery, Phyllis, Beverley and Shirley Rayburn; a father, O. F. Meldon, and three sisters, Florence, Mildred and Ruth. The deceased was raised here, attended the public and the high school and was very well liked by her many friends.
Mother and daughter had many warm friends in Sausalito who extend their sincere sympathy to the bereaved families.
