OSCAR M. SMITH
Passing of a Respected Citizen of Mill Valley
Oscar M. Smith of Bay View avenue passed away at his home on Tuesday afternoon, June 26, after an illness of but a few days. He went to his office as usual in San Francisco last Thursday but for the last time.
Mr. Smith has been practicing law in San Francisco for a little more than two years. It was two years ago that he purchased his home in Mill Valley and brought his family here.
Ohio was his native State. It was here that he was educated and admitted to the bar. He practiced law 35 years, beginning in Cincinnati and later going to Chicago. He took a position in New York City for a number of years, resigning to come to California four years ago. He was a man who loved his home and the out-of-doors. He was a man quiet in manner, industrious and of sterling character and he was a true patriot.
Mr. Smith leaves a wife, Mrs. Carmelita Smith, and two daughters, Mrs. E. A. McRoberts of Klamath Falls but recently of Santa Barbara, and Miss Carmelita Smith, who resides in the parental home.
Christian Science services were conducted in Dowd's Chapel, by a personal friend, Friday afternoon. There was music by members of the local church.
