I've found entries for my grandfather's cousin, Jean Pierre Barbe in Several of your databases. He was the contact for my grandfather, Pierre Regla, listed on his Ellis Island ship's manifest when he arrived in New York in March, 1907.
This one is from the 1898 telephone directory:
Sutter 2902. Barbe, J., French Laundry, 1624 Pacific.
Any suggestions as to futher researching this person?
By the way, from the date my grandfather arrived in New York towards the end of March, 1907, considereing the travel time across the continent, and the date of the eartquake, I am assuming my grandfather had only been in San Francisco a few days when the earthquake happened.
