San Miguel Cemetery
Dates of Existence: 1854 to unknown.
Location: Rancho San Miguel.
Number interred: unknown.
Moved to: unknown.
Note: This cemetery was most likely a venture that never materialized. The Horners owned Horners Addition (now Noe Valley) that was previously part of the eastern side of San Miguel Ranch. Cemeteries tended to be on hillsides, so it's possible that were considering the southern portion of Horners Addition.
“San Miguel Cemetery. The public are hereby notified that having been prevailed upon by many of the citizens of San Francisco and county, we have selected, purchased, and set apart a suitable spot of ground for Cemetery purposes, favorably located, well adapted to the purpose, and is a portion of the well known “Noe” or “San Miguel Ranche.” Title confirmed, and no adverse claims or titles. We have purchased two hundred acres, so that all classes of the community can be there accommodated. It is situated in a pleasant, romantic spot, easy of access, and only one mile southwest of the corporate limits of the city, yet so situated that the living will never intrude upon it for business purposes. It is intended to accommodate both the northern part of the county and city. The plans and more particular descriptions will be made know hereafter.
JOHN M. HORNER,
WM. Y. HORNER,
And others, Proprietors.”
